Be Broadband have today launched a brand new website! The new website is one they want users to interact and collaborate with and has a fully customisable look & feel. This is the abstract taken from BE's website on what they have changed and why: "When BE launched in Sept 2005 the idea was to revolutionise the UK broadband market. We certainly did that and in the process many like minded people joined us in that revolution. As with all good revolutions we didn't stop and so it's been a constant evolution since then. Since then we have seen the dawn of Web 2.0 and Social Media and to be frank we haven't done much about that. In particular the one area that hasn't changed much has been our website. When the need came for a major site overhaul we took the opportunity to look at how we communicate with our Members and to look at our identity to see if it was right for the Member we have and the new Members of the future. The single common aspect to all BE Members is that you are all passionate about what it is you use the internet for and what you do in effect creates the internet. To quote from the BE manifesto "The internet is your life not a lifestyle choice." This led us to the thinking that we should keep things pretty simple. Rather than believing just what we think we have been working with about 50 BE Members to help us with the update. They have been a great help and I want to thank them. One of the last comments I heard from the beta blog about the new identity was that it looked "unfinished", and that is kind of the point. We have created a straight forward identity that over time will evolve, change and adapt with input from all sorts of people (and machines). One of the first projects has been the creation of the BE logo from submitted images from members, take a look at blog.bethere.co.uk. And for those diehards out there if you look hard enough you will still find a few references to the old BE logo and if you ever need a reminder of the old go and check out www.archive.org. Everything that you do online and all the output that you create we refer to as Citizen Media. BE wants to get out the way and give you the opportunity to carry on with creating the new, continue defining the internet. So from now on it's for both of us to carry on "creating the new" across the web. So next time you upload a post or download a new app it is exactly what you have just done that creates the internet and BE want to be there to allow you to carry on what you do best." Don't forget that Be Broadband are still offering £24 worth of Amazon vouchers to new sign ups on any 12 month product. All you have to do is navigate to the Be Broadband page on Broadbandselect, select the offer of your choice and enter voucher code 24 when prompted to by Be Broadband. As always, as easy as 1, 2, select!
